Installing a printer on a Mac is usually a simple task. All you have to do is plug the printer into your Mac, turn the printer on, and then let your Mac automatically install the printer for you.

Sometimes the automatic installation process does not work, usually with older printers. In that case, you can use the manual printer installation method.

Your Mac will detect any compatible printer you connect to it with a cable. You can add it via System Preferences.
