With iOS 18, Apple finally opens up the iPhone’s home screen. You’re still stuck with a grid, but you can also freely position app icons, remove text labels, get dark mode icons, and even tint app icons to a color of your choice! Here’s how to get the most out of the new home screen experience on your iPhone and iPad.

Apps and widgets are now finally free to go wherever you want. As long as you stick to a grid pattern, you can now place app icons only at the bottom of your screen, or only at the sides, or in a zigzag pattern. The world is your oyster. And so are widgets.
The only limitations are that you still can't overlap icons or create custom spacing between icons. Still, you now have the freedom to place app icons at any size you want, and you should really experiment to see what works with your wallpaper.
Arranging app icons still works the same way. You tap and hold the app icon and move it to the desired location. If there are other icons where you place it, they will move accordingly.
