How to Password Protect a Folder on Windows 10 – No Additional Software Required
Sharing a computer isn’t always the smartest thing to do, especially if you’re worried about family, friends, or someone with malicious intent getting access to your files. You can use separate user accounts, but if your files aren’t encrypted, it could still be possible for someone else to gain access.
There are a few ways to password protect folders in Windows 10. If you have Windows 10 Pro, Enterprise, or Education, you can also use built-in features to encrypt files or a USB device. You can also zip folders with a password or use third-party software to create encrypted folders.
One of the easiest methods to password protect a folder in Windows 10 is to use the built-in folder encryption system, the Encrypted File System (EFS). This method is only available for Windows 10 Pro, Enterprise, or Education users.
