This article explains how to permanently delete Outlook emails, bypassing the Deleted Items folder. Permanently deleted items cannot be recovered. Instructions apply to Outlook 2019, 2016, 2013, 2010; and Outlook for Microsoft 365.

To permanently delete a message (without the message going to your Deleted Items folder) in Outlook:

Select the message you want to permanently delete.

Press Shift+Del. Or go to the Home tab, hold down Shift and select Delete.
