All modern computers have special modalities that cater to users with different skills and backgrounds. In Windows 11, one such feature is Sticky Keys, which keeps modifier keys like Shift and Alt active even when they’re not being held down. This is useful for users who can’t press two or more keys at once. But it’s not for everyone.
How to Disable Sticky Keys on a Windows 11 or 10 PC
By default, Sticky Keys is turned off. However, if you press Shift five times in a row, you will get a prompt asking if you want to turn Sticky Keys on or off.
When the keystrokes are accidental, these prompts can be distracting and downright annoying if they happen often enough. It's a good idea to disable them permanently if you don't plan on using Sticky Keys.
Windows 11 has a number of accessibility features that make it easier to use and interact with, such as Filter Keys and Sticky Keys, as well as newly added QoL improvements like Voice Typing, Narration, Live Captions, and more. While useful in their own right, they may not be for everyone.
