This article explains how to set up your Meta (Oculus) Quest VR headset to play Steam games using a USB cable.
HOW TO PLAY STEAM VR GAMES ON META QUEST 2 OR 3! | Link Cable Setup Guide 2023
Normally, on your Quest or Quest 2 (which we will call Quest from now on) you can only download and play games from the official Store. These can usually be accessed via the VR environment in your headset.
A feature called Oculus Link lets you tether your Quest to a computer via a USB cable, much the same way as PCVR headsets like the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift. In Oculus Link mode, the Quest can play any VR games installed in your Steam library, giving you access to a new resource.
Before you install any software, make sure you have a USB cable that you can use with your Quest. It needs to be long enough to allow you to move around your play area on your PC, so Oculus recommends one that’s at least 10 feet long, and even that’s too short to be practical unless you’re staying relatively still.
