Google Chromebooks are known for their relatively low cost and their simplicity and ease of use. While Chrome OS isn’t as complex as macOS, Windows, or other major laptop operating systems, you may still occasionally encounter a persistent issue, such as your Chromebook freezing, that you can’t seem to fix.

In cases like this, you may need to factory reset your Chromebook. Another reason you might want to use this “break-glass” method is if you’re passing your Chromebook on to a new owner and you want to make sure all of your personal data is removed beforehand.
