This article explains how to digitize photos in record time, whether you have a scanner or a smartphone. A dedicated scanner will produce higher-quality scans, but a smartphone can process photos faster.
How to Quickly Scan Your Treasured Old Photos to Digital
It may seem like preparing photos will only cost you time, but there’s no point in taking the time to scan photos if you can’t use them later. Scanning photos together in clusters makes them easier to archive later.
Wipe the photos with a soft, lint-free cloth, as fingerprints, smudges or dust will be visible on the scan. Also wipe the scanner bed.
If you have a specific image scanning program for your scanner and are familiar with it, stick with what you know. If you’re not sure what to use and want to get started, your computer already has some decent software installed as part of the operating system. For Windows computers, it’s Windows Fax & Scan, and on Macs, it’s called Image Capture.
