The ECG app on your Apple Watch can record your heart rhythm and look for irregularities. To detect the electrical signals in your heart, electrodes are attached to the back of the watch and the Digital Crown. A closed circuit is created between your heart and arms when you touch the Digital Crown, which allows the ECG app to measure your heart rate and rhythm for an electrocardiogram.
