YouTube TV has a lot of selling points, including a wide range of channels and a competitive price tag. But its unlimited digital video recorder (DVR) feature sets it apart from most other live TV streaming services.

This feature allows you to record any programming you want, including shows, movies, live sports, and other events, and then watch the recordings on any device. If you’re ready to put your YouTube DVR to use, here’s how to record on YouTube TV, its benefits and features, as well as a handful of limitations.

If you can’t find DVR on the YouTube TV interface, don’t worry. You won’t actually find anything called a DVR, whether you’re using the website or an app, because YouTube TV doesn’t call its DVR feature a DVR. Instead, you have a library, and you actually record a show to your DVR by choosing to add that show to your library.

When you add a show to your library, the DVR feature will automatically record it as it airs. If you choose a TV show, that show will automatically be recorded every time it airs, including both the first airing and reruns. Shows recorded this way can be accessed by going to the My Library section of the YouTube TV website or app.
