A strange issue is plaguing some Pixel owners, and Google has yet to release a fix for this curious problem. Apparently, some people running the December 2019 security update (if it can even be downloaded, which may not be the case) are noticing that various app icons are disappearing on their Pixel devices.
How to Fix App Icons Disappearing/Not Showing on Android Phone
The issue doesn’t appear to be Pixel-specific, as users of the Pixel 2, Pixel 3, and Pixel 4 have all reported the problem. And you’ll know if you have it because all you’ll see is a blank space in your Pixel Launcher and the name of the app below it where there should be an icon (but isn’t).
You can still tap an app's name or where its icon should be to open the app, but you'll have to get a little more creative to get the icon back.
