Apple allows users to easily communicate with their friends and family by allowing them to add people they often talk to in a favorites list. You can add anyone to your favorites list and add their name as a shortcut to contact them via phone call, Messages, FaceTime or via Mail. This way, you can save time scrolling through your Contacts whenever you want to talk to them.

You can add people as favorites in the Phone, Messages, Contacts, and FaceTime apps on iOS. But no matter which app you used to favorite their contact information, you can only view people you've favorited in the Phone app.
