Flatbed scanners have been the mainstay of image digitization for decades. The problem is, you probably don't have one, and you almost certainly don't have one with you all the time.
Smartphone cameras are so good these days that you can not only take a very detailed photo of a document, but probably zoom in right down to the ink dots. So why do we still use scanners?
