When Google released the first developer preview of Android 11, one of the first features we expected to debut with the next version of Android was Scheduled Dark Mode. The Mountain View giant has changed its plans for Android 11's Scheduled Dark Mode, instead accelerating the feature's rollout. Starting today, Scheduled Dark Mode will be part of Android 10.

The feature is currently live on Pixel phones running the latest Android 10 firmware. That includes the Pixel 4, Pixel 4 XL, Pixel 3a, Pixel 3a XL, Pixel 3, Pixel 3 XL, Pixel 2, and Pixel 2 XL. Dark theme scheduling lets you automatically switch from a light to a dark wallpaper at sunset, and back to light mode at sunrise.
The following guide will help you enable dark theme scheduling so that your phone can switch to a dark theme without you having to do it yourself.
Update [March 4, 2020]: After our initial testing, we found a bug in Google’s Dark Theme scheduling. We discovered that keeping it enabled would prevent dark mode from being enabled in some apps, the apps that were working with the default dark mode. For example, the Phone app would be stuck in Light Theme even if the schedule was enabled and the time was after sunset. However, disabling the schedule and manually enabling Dark Theme fixed the issue.
