Securing all your different digital accounts can seem daunting, but sometimes the simplest controls are the most effective. For example, seeing how many different devices you’re currently logged into.

This is useful for two reasons. First, it can flag a device that has accessed your account without your permission or knowledge, perhaps an unwanted and uninvited guest, someone who has obtained your login credentials.

Second, it can show you where your accounts might still be active on older hardware that you no longer use, such as gadgets you sold or gave away. These devices may not be compromised right now, but they could be if you’re still logged in to them.

You can easily do this for your Google account, and it’s also possible to do this for your Apple account, the one you’re probably logged into on your desktop or laptop. It’s worth checking, you may have more active logins than you think.
