This article explains how to set up and use a microphone for Nintendo Switch. Instructions apply to all Nintendo Switch models.

Each Nintendo Switch console has an audio jack on the top and a USB-C port on the bottom. Both can connect compatible earbuds or headphones, and support most models of microphones.

Microphones connected to either port can be used for voice chat while playing Fortnite or Warframe. All you have to do is plug in the mic and start chatting. A Nintendo Online subscription is not required.

Fortnite and Warframe are the only video games that support microphone chat using this method. Unfortunately, it is unstable in Fortnite, with the game often randomly not registering a microphone.
