This article explains how to set up an Apple AirPort Express using AirPort Utility. AirPort Utility software is included with Mac OS X 10.9 (Mavericks) through 10.13 (High Sierra), and is available as a download for newer Macs. The article also includes troubleshooting tips for AirPort Express.
Apple's AirPort Express Wi-Fi Base Station lets you share devices such as speakers or printers wirelessly with other computers. With AirPort Express, you can connect each speaker in your home to a single iTunes library, effectively creating a wireless home music network. You can also use AirPrint to print documents wirelessly to printers in other rooms.
Start by plugging your AirPort Express into a power outlet in the room where you want to use it. If you haven't already installed the AirPort Utility software, install it from the CD that came with your AirPort Express or download it from the Apple website.
Launch AirPort Utility. When it launches, you will see the AirPort Express base station in the left pane. Click it once to highlight it, if it is not already highlighted.
