There are a couple of methods to set up Gmail in Outlook. You can set up Outlook and Gmail automatically or manually enter the Gmail and Outlook settings.

Before you use Outlook with Gmail, you need to enable IMAP in Gmail. Go to your online Gmail account and follow these steps:

Select the gear icon to open the menu, then select Settings.

Select Forwarding and POP/IMAP to view the POP and IMAP settings.
