In this article, we explain how to determine the right size uninterruptible power supply to meet your needs.
How do I determine the correct UPS capacity?
The three important factors to consider when setting up a UPS are the intended load (i.e. the combined voltage and amperage of all the connected electronics), the capacity (i.e. maximum power output), and the runtime (i.e. how long the battery can provide power). A UPS is most efficient when the capacity closely matches the total load without falling below the required levels. In other words, you want to avoid using a UPS with a lower capacity than the intended load.
Consider which electronic devices you want to connect to the UPS.
Determine both the voltage and amperage for each appliance. This should be stated in the appliance documentation or on the nameplate.
