Google Home devices like Google Nest Minis, Displays, and the Speaker typically work seamlessly together to bring Google Assistant to your home or office. But sometimes they slip up, and when that happens, a soft restart is the best first step.
🖥 How to Factory Reset Your Google Home
The most likely issue a Google Hub will encounter is a lost Wi-Fi connection. In some cases, Google Assistant will not respond even when Wi-Fi is working. Regardless of what issues you’re having with your hub, the first step is usually a soft reboot, also known as power cycling.
Power cycling is as simple as unplugging your hub, speaker, etc., either where the power is connected to the hub itself, or where the power cord is plugged into the wall outlet. Leave the hub unplugged for at least a minute, then plug it back in. The hub will take a minute to come back online, during which a short chord of notes will play and flash on the front of the hub to indicate the process.
If that doesn’t fix the connection issue, you can reboot your modem and router, as well as your speaker. This involves repeating the same process with your modem, unplugging it and plugging it back in, cycling the power. This forces the wifi to reconnect across the entire system.
