Gmail offers a basic HTML version for users with slow internet connections or old computers. Gmail's basic HTML interface looks similar to previous versions of Google's email service and relies on only the most essential browser functions.
Switch between Standard View and HTML Gmail [Tutorial]
The HTML version of Gmail loads faster than the standard version. If you want to add text formatting to Gmail messages or embed links, you need to use the correct HTML code.
To view your Gmail in basic HTML, open the Gmail HTML website in a web browser and sign in to your Gmail account if prompted. Then select I want to use HTML Gmail.
To switch from Gmail Basic HTML to the standard Gmail interface, scroll down to the bottom of your inbox and select Standard next to Gmail appearance.
