Taking screenshots is one of the most important features of your iPhone. It allows you to quickly capture what’s on your screen and is an effective way to record important memories, report bugs or technical issues, and preserve important events. This step-by-step guide will show you the best ways to take a screenshot on your iPhone, regardless of the model.

iPhone 12: Take a Screenshot (2 Ways, Including Double-Tap Back)

On iPhones that don’t have a Home button (the large circle at the bottom of the screen), press the side button (the one you use to turn on your phone) and the volume up button at the same time. Once a screenshot is taken, you’ll see an animation and a thumbnail of the screenshot in the bottom-left corner of the screen. Tap the thumbnail to edit the screenshot, or swipe it to the left to save it. You can also leave it alone and it will save automatically and disappear.

To take a screenshot on iPhones with a Home button, press and hold the Power button and the Home button at the same time for about a second. This will take a screenshot and display a thumbnail in the bottom-left corner of your screen.

There are a lot of ways to configure Assistive Touch, but since we’re focusing on screenshots, I’d recommend only using the button to capture your iPhone’s screen. To set this up, head to the Assistive Touch settings page and select Customize Top Level Menu. Press the button until there’s only one icon left, then tap on that icon. This will bring up a list of options: scroll down to select Screenshot . That’s it. Now, whenever you want to take a screenshot, tap the virtual home button, known as Assistive Touch. As soon as you press the button, your iPhone will instantly take a screenshot.
