This article describes how to take screenshots on a Mac using keyboard shortcuts and the Screenshots app built into macOS. You've always been able to take screenshots on a Mac, but Apple included special software with macOS Mojave (10.14).

There are several key combinations you can use to take screenshots on Mac, with shift + command + 3 being the most commonly used. This key combination will instantly take a screenshot of your entire screen, including all visible windows, the desktop, the dock, and anything else visible.

Open the window you want to take a screenshot of, or arrange the screen as desired.
