If you’re a photographer, the wind is not your friend. Windy conditions can cause camera shake and blurry photos; can cause leaves, hair, and other objects to move around too much, ruining the image; and can cause dirt or sand to blow around, damaging equipment.

There are ways to neutralize the wind and make sure it doesn't ruin your photography day. Use these tips to avoid shooting in high winds.

If your subject is moving slightly in windy conditions, you’ll want to use a fast shutter speed, which will stop the action. With a slower shutter speed, you may see a slight blur on your subject due to the wind. Depending on your camera, you can use Shutter Priority mode, which allows you to set a fast shutter speed. The camera will then adjust the other settings accordingly.
