How to Lock/Unlock the Keyboard on a Windows 10 PC or Laptop

The easiest way to turn off your keyboard is to lock your computer or put it to sleep. On Windows machines, there are several ways to do this.

The easiest method is the Win+L keyboard shortcut. Any typing you do after using this shortcut will only serve to wake the screen. The second easiest is to press CTRL+ALT+Delete. This shortcut brings up a menu with a Lock option, as well as Logout, Account Switching, and Task Manager.

To lock your computer and save battery power, click the Start button, click the Power icon, and then select Sleep. Press the physical power button to wake the computer. You can also put the computer into sleep mode by closing the laptop lid.
