A common reason to test your internet speed is to make sure you are getting the Mbps or Gbps of bandwidth you are paying your ISP for. If your tests show a consistently slow connection, your ISP may have a problem and you may be eligible for a refund in the future.
Another reason is to make sure you can stream movies with high bandwidth, such as those from Netflix, Hulu, Amazon and other providers. If your internet speed is too slow, you will get stuttering video or frequent buffering.
