The Fitness app on iOS is generally only useful for people who own an Apple Watch. The app syncs with your watch and shows you all the stats based on the workouts and activities you’ve done throughout the day. You can check the calories you’ve burned and how you’re doing against the goals you’ve set by checking the rings.
How to Use the Fitness App on Your iPhone (NOT Apple Watch)
Apple is now opening up the Fitness app to all iPhone users on iOS 16, so you no longer need an Apple Watch to view your activity data. In this post, we'll explain what the Fitness app on iOS 16 has to offer and how you can use it to track your fitness activity on your iPhone.
With iOS 16, Apple’s Fitness app is accessible on all iPhones, even those that aren’t paired with an Apple Watch. This way, you don’t have to own an Apple Watch anymore to collect your activity information in the Fitness app. The app uses your iPhone’s motion sensors to learn your movement or any activity you’ve been involved in.
You can set your Move goals to your preference right from the Fitness app, and you’ll see the familiar Move ring as you approach and complete your daily activities. Unlike when paired with an Apple Watch, without the watch, the Fitness app only shows you the Move ring. Your activities can also be displayed on your Lock screen and Home screen via special widgets, so you can easily track them without opening the Fitness app.
