Saurian transformation can be used without any requirements. I highly recommend taking advantage of the ability to transform, as it saves you time getting from one place to another.
There are two ways to transform into a saurian. First, look for a floating symbol that represents a saurian (there is a different symbol for each type). Go to it and use the special interaction key (T button for PC) to transform.
Or find an adult saurian in the wild, approach it and use the special interaction key to transform. This does not work for baby saurians!
