This article explains how to completely turn off all versions of the PS4 console and put it into rest mode.

It is recommended that you power down your PS4 completely if you need to unplug it and move it somewhere else. Doing this will prevent the console from downloading updates and will end any current gaming sessions.

Hold the same PS4 power button for about seven seconds until you hear two seconds of beeps. If you release the button after the first beep, it will go into rest mode.

The message “PS4 is preparing to power off…” will appear on the TV screen and you will be warned not to unplug the power cord during this process.
