To help you avoid missing important notifications, your iPhone can give you visual, audio, and haptic feedback every time a notification pops up. If you don’t want your iPhone to ping every time a notification pops up, you can flip the Ring/Silent switch on your iPhone to put it into silent mode when you’re in a meeting or in a quiet place.
How to Turn Off Silent Mode on Your iPhone Without a Button
In this post, we'll explain where to control the call button on your iPhone, the different ways to enable the call button, and what happens when you switch between ring mode and silent mode.
While you may interact with everything on your iPhone’s screen the most, there are still a few physical switches that are functional at their core. On the left side of an iPhone, you’ll notice a switch at the very top, above the physical volume buttons. This is what Apple calls the Ring/Silent Switch, and it’s been found on the top-left side of every iPhone out there, dating back to the very first iPhone.
The Ring/Silent switch can perform two functions: put your iPhone into Ring Mode or activate Silent Mode on the device. The switch can be moved toward or away from the iPhone’s screen to perform your desired action.
