Hiding cells in Microsoft Excel is useful when you want to focus on a particular area of your spreadsheet. However, if you hide the first column or row, it is not as easy to unhide these areas as it is with other parts of your spreadsheet.
How to Unhide the 1st Column in Excel
We show you how to make the first column and first row visible in Excel when needed. The instructions are the same for Microsoft Excel on Windows and Mac.
If your worksheet has no other hidden columns or rows besides the first one, you can easily unhide them all.
If you have hidden other columns or rows in your worksheet, but don't want to show them all, you can navigate to cell A1 to show the column and/or row. Let's start with how to get to cell A1, since you can't simply navigate to it with your mouse or trackpad when it's hidden.
