This article explains how to update your Kindle Fire and sync it with your Amazon account. Instructions apply to all Amazon Fire HD tablets (formerly Kindle Fire) running Fire OS 5 or later.

Fire tablets run a customized version of Android called Fire OS. Unless you have the latest model, your Fire tablet may not be able to run the latest version of Fire OS.

To check if your device has the latest update, follow these instructions:
