Not only do there are four formatting styles, but also eight special effects to bring your texts to life.

The Messages app now has four rich text formatting styles. They are Bold, Italics, Underline, and Strikethrough. Here's how to use them:
This is in contrast to the eight styles supported by popular messaging apps like WhatsApp. But either way, we're glad to see basic text formatting here.
In addition to the four text formatting styles, iOS 18 also brings eight special effects you can use to spice up your conversations. These are: Big, Small, Shake, Nod, Explode, Ripple, Bloom, and Jitter.
