Your iPhone has a feature that you may not have fully utilized yet, called Back Tap. This feature provides users with a way to access certain functions and shortcuts by double- or triple-tapping the back of their iPhone.
How to Use Back Tap on Your iPhone | Apple Support
In this post, we'll explain what the Back Tap shortcut is and how to set it up and use it on your iPhone.
Back Tap is an accessibility feature in iOS that allows you to use the back of your iPhone to perform simple gestures and actions on your device. You can simply double or triple tap the back of your iPhone to have your iPhone perform the shortcut that you have configured. In this way, you can configure different shortcuts for double tapping and triple tapping the back of your iPhone.
The functionality uses the iPhone’s accelerometer and gyroscope to detect when you tap and how many times you tap the back. What these sensors do is detect which direction your iPhone is moving when you tap it and monitor multiple sharp spikes of movement in the same direction. Because your iPhone is moving upwards when you tap the back, this detection allows your device to execute the defined Back Tap shortcut.
