What is Windows Sandbox? How do I enable and use it?

A number of new features were added to Windows 10 with Microsoft’s May 2019 Update, but one of the most significant was Windows Sandbox. It was designed to provide Windows users with a separate testing environment to try out new or untrusted software, as an alternative to using a virtual machine.

The Windows 10 sandbox requires a PC or laptop with resources capable of running virtual machines, including (at a minimum) a dual-core processor, 4GB of RAM, and 1GB of disk space. You will also need to enable virtualization in your system’s UEFI or BIOS settings before you begin.

Windows 10 version 1903 includes the Windows Sandbox, but if you're running Windows 10 Home, you won't be able to use this feature. It's only available to users running Windows 10 Pro, Enterprise, or Education.
