The 2024 edition of the Candidates will take place in Toronto, April 2-25. As with previous editions over the past decade, the tournament will feature eight players and will have a double round-robin format (where each player plays each other twice, once with each color).
The time control is based on the FIDE marathon variant of classical chess: 120 minutes for the first 40 moves, 60 minutes extra for the next 20 moves, and then another 15 minutes extra plus 30 seconds from move 61 onwards.
