As part of the version 5.2 upgrade, Midjourney now offers the ability to zoom out on images you create with the AI art generator. The Zoom Out feature extends the canvas beyond the existing outline without altering the content of the image you originally created with Midjourney. When you use this feature, Midjourney will generate another set of 4 images based on the original image and the prompt you used to create it.

By default, you can zoom out of an image by 1.5x or 2x, depending on your preference. These options are available when you scale up the original image you generate with your first prompt. Midjourney also gives users the ability to set a custom value for a zoom that you can choose between 1.0 and 2.0, in case you prefer not to zoom out using the preset options.
Before you can zoom out on an image on Midjourney, you’ll first need to create one using the AI image generator. To do this, open one of Midjourney’s channels on Discord or head to the Midjourney Bot in your Discord server or DM. Regardless of how you open Midjourney, you can start generating an image by clicking the text box at the bottom.
