Twitter Blue is a subscription service from the social network that gives you access to special features. But now that there are reports that its price is going up, there is even more dissatisfaction with what it has to offer.
Is Twitter Blue Worth It? My Experience with Twitter Blue
Twitter recently confirmed that it plans to raise the price of Twitter Blue from $2.99 per month to $4.99 per month starting in October. That’s a significant increase, and it doesn’t add any new features. And even the features that are already there are disappointing, according to subscribers and people who watch the social space.
"The initial launch of Twitter's subscription concept, Twitter Blue, hasn't been a success with users, but the platform has announced an upcoming price increase," social media consultant Katie McKiever told Lifewire via direct message. "The biggest criticism I see of the current subscription plan is that the fee isn't justified given the features you get." Still, that fee is going up.
Twitter Blue has a handful of features for that $4.99 monthly outlay. They include an “undo send” function, which lets people cancel a tweet a short time after sending it. The ability to customize aspects of the Twitter app is one of the few features that people appreciate. Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman says it’s the only reason he currently pays for Twitter Blue.
