With one in four Americans working from home, the video meeting industry is in a competitive environment. Google Meet’s new 49-person grid view and background blur features better position the company to compete with rivals Zoom, Microsoft Teams, WebEx and Skype.
“The lockdown has shown that people can work from home effectively, so going forward, people will be working in a hybrid environment,” Starleaf VP Mike McCarthy told Lifewire in an email. “Some work will be done from home, and reliable and secure virtual meetings are a critical part of that. People will still work from their offices, as social interaction is still very important, but the emphasis will be on virtual meetings.”
Neal Taparia, CEO of startup Solitaired, believes that all meetings in the future will be via video conferencing.
