The upcoming game Cities: Skylines 2 aims to present a lifelike simulation with themes such as homelessness, poverty and unfortunate car accidents. It is one of a growing number of games that aim for more than just thrills.
“As artifacts of popular culture, video games can exert as much influence as other media, such as novels or films. In fact, they may be even more so because of their immersive interactivity,” Kristin Bezio, a University of Richmond professor and video game researcher, told Lifewire in an email interview.
In Cities: Skylines II, players can build and manage cities with comprehensive transportation and economic systems, a wide range of building and customization options, and advanced modding capabilities.
