Apple's Vision Pro headset may be the closest thing you'll get to a touchscreen Mac.
Vision Pro for Mac Review – Why I Think It’s Worth It!
Until now, the hype surrounding the Vision Pro has been about the quality of the 3D experience and the insanely powerful hardware. But Apple is pitching this as a spatial computer, so what happens when you want to actually do some computing? Well, it turns out the AVP (Apple Vision Pro) is actually a pretty good monitor for your Mac, turning it into a mouse-less, near-touchscreen computer.
"The Vision Pro's floating display capabilities may not exactly replace a touchscreen Mac, but they certainly offer a fresh, dynamic way to interact with digital spaces. In my experience, the ability to manipulate songs or visual projects in a more immersive, hands-on environment can significantly benefit creative workflows," Sam Tarantino, co-founder of music streaming service Grooveshark, told Lifewire via email.
When you open your MacBook while wearing the Vision Pro, the Mac’s screen goes black and is replaced by a floating virtual display. This display can be placed anywhere and resized to become enormous. And when a developer refactors their software to run natively as a Vision Pro app, the results can be even more impressive. CNET’s Stephen Shankland, for example, tested Adobe’s pro-level photo-editing app Lightroom in the AVP and found it to be very usable.
