Long before Reddit became the front page of the internet or Quora was the go-to answering forum, Yahoo Answers gave a generation a sense of community through shared questions. While the service has had its ups and downs, experts say it truly marks the end of an internet era.
“Yahoo Answers is a relic of a time long gone; a time when search results weren’t standard Google search results, but a real-world mix of human knowledge, curiosity, and ignorance,” Mark Coster, owner and editor-in-chief of STEM Toy Expert, wrote in an email to Lifewire.
At its core, Yahoo Answers helped people find solutions to their problems or questions, whether it was learning how to use a lawn mower or the now-popular questions like “What happens if you get Pergenat?” or “How do you make a Weeji board?”
