Despite initial impressions and accusations from some companies, the iCloud Private Relay issues are not caused by carrier issues or a bug in iOS 15.2.
Enable iCloud Private Relay on iOS 16.3
Private Relay is a special privacy protection option for iCloud+ subscribers that hides your IP address, making it harder for companies, advertisers, and malicious parties to track your physical location or your browsing behavior.
Things started to get confusing recently when some T-Mobile users noticed that Private Relay wasn’t working. In addition, they were also getting an error message that implied that the problem was caused by their carrier and not by Private Relay or their iCloud account. To many, it appeared that T-Mobile was blocking Private Relay from working, but the carrier had nothing to do with it.
“Your cellular plan does not support iCloud Private Relay,” the message reads. “When Private Relay is disabled, this network can monitor your internet activity and your IP address will not be hidden from known trackers or websites.”
