A new app from Iconfactory promises to bring together almost everything you read or watch on the web into a single, universal timeline.
“Read” without reading, with this AI app ✨
Every time you pick up your phone, you probably have some sort of ritual. You check your social media, maybe a news site like Lifewire.com, some blogs, a newspaper or other news source, YouTube, and so on. But what if, instead of having to open a separate app for each, you could just view all the updates in one place? That’s Project Tapestry, and it gives us back control over what we see online, while also being super convenient.
"The algorithms used by social media platforms play a critical role in determining the content that users see. These algorithms analyze user behavior and interests to deliver personalized content. However, this can lead to a filter bubble effect, where users are exposed to a limited number of viewpoints and information. By having more control over what they read, users can break out of these echo chambers and gain access to a wider range of perspectives," Tom Andrew, a lead developer and designer at WhatSong, told Lifewire via email.
Now seems like the perfect time for something like Project Tapestry, which will no doubt get a catchier name once it gets through development (the Iconfactory just launched it on Kickstarter). We’re at a tipping point when it comes to the internet. Twitter was the de facto place to find almost anything, with bloggers and journalists posting links to their posts, podcasters sharing new episodes, etc.
