The hype surrounding Black Ops 6 has continued to build as early Call of Duty leaks have provided details on what’s coming next. Focusing on a so-called map list, which, among Black Ops classics like Nuketown and Firing Range, features a battlefield from the “jetpack CoD” era.
The 22 Leaked Maps for Black Ops 6! | (Beta Maps, Launch Maps & More!)
CoD fans were quick to parse a list of proposed maps provided by dataminer "Betterthanalaix" as part of a round of Black Ops 6 leaks over the weekend. Many fan favorites made the list, but many also noted the mention of Fringe, a popular map from the bygone era of jetpacks and a focus on verticality in CoD.
Fringe is a map introduced in Black Ops 3 in 2015. It is set in a rural American town, featuring wheat silos, a farmhouse, and other buildings along a winding road. Black Ops 3's aerial movement allowed for Fringe to be fought from a variety of angles, all adding to the map's complexity. If true, this would make Fringe the first-ever remastered map from the "jetpack CoD" era that concluded eight years ago with Infinite Warfare.
Jetpack movement and the addition of advanced moves like wallrunning were seen as a huge risk by Activision when the mechanics were introduced. While these techniques only lasted three CoD iterations, Black Ops 3's version was widely regarded as the best of the three, in part due to the map designs utilized in the jetpack-driven title.
