Occasionally, you will encounter Echoes fighting each other in Wuthering Waves. This only happens when two types of Echoes spawn next to each other that are not similar Echoes. When these Echoes start fighting, it turns out that you can sit out the fight and still get the Echo drops from them if there are any.

For example, a group of Echoes containing Fusion Dreadmanes and Havoc Dreadmanes will typically not fight each other, but another Echo wandering near Dreadmanes will find itself surrounded. You can go AFK during these types of fights and come back for potential Echo drops.
This works best if you are within target distance of the Echoes (where you can see their health bars), but far enough away that you don't draw them to you and can't defend yourself.
To take advantage of this, you'll need to find a group of Echoes that are already fighting each other. These aren't everywhere in Huanglong, so it's best to do a little scouting and map out a few spots where there are definitely incompatible Echoes.
