The AVERAGEIF function makes it easier to find the average value in a range of data that meets a certain criterion. One use of the function is to ignore zero values in data that would disrupt the average or arithmetic mean when using the normal AVERAGE function. In addition to data added to a worksheet, zero values can result from formula calculations, especially in incomplete worksheets.
