Installing macOS Lion (10.7. x) as an upgrade can be done easily by downloading the update from the Mac App Store. While this will allow you to get your hands on Lion quickly, it does have a few drawbacks.
Create a bootable DVD for OSX Lion!
First, this method doesn’t include a bootable DVD to perform a clean install on your Mac, nor does it provide you with a bootable operating system to run Disk Utility from.
Apple attempted to address the need to be able to run Disk Utility by including a recovery drive with Lion. During the Lion installation process, a special recovery disk partition is created. This contains a stripped-down version of Lion that lets you boot your Mac and run a small set of utilities, including Disk Utility. You can also reinstall Lion, if necessary. However, if the drive containing the recovery partition fails, you're out of luck.
You can use a number of Apple utilities to create additional Recovery HD discs, but these aren't as easy and convenient to move around as using a macOS Lion DVD for repairing multiple Macs or installing the operating system as needed.
