It’s been a while since iOS 15 first rolled out to the public and among the many changes, Apple’s native Safari browser has received a total overhaul in terms of UI that is not only eye-catching but also functional. At the heart of all these changes is Safari’s new Tab Bar – a new address bar that appears at the bottom of the homepage and web pages and is the one feature that makes one-handed multitasking easier than ever.
How to Enable and Use Safari Landscape Tab Bar in iOS 15 on iPhone
Whatever you’re doing, the Tab Bar comes in handy in every situation, whether you want to switch between tabs, open Tab Overview, access a website’s settings, toggle Reader Mode on or off, and more. The new Tab Bar is just as useful if you’re using your iPhone in landscape mode, and Apple has added a few extra features if you’re someone who uses their iPhone in horizontal layout. In this post, we’ll explain what the Landscape Tab Bar is, how to enable it on iOS 15, and how to use it on your phone.
Generally, when you use the Safari app to view websites on iOS 15 in landscape mode, you’ll be greeted by the Tab Bar at the top of the home screen or loaded website. In many ways, this Tab Bar is similar to the Tab Bar that appears when you hold your iPhone upright. The only difference is that instead of having two bars at the bottom, the Tab Bar in landscape mode occupies a single bar at the top that’s filled with the address bar and icons for back/forward, bookmarks, share, new tab, and tab overview.
iOS 15, however, brings a brand new option called “Landscape Tab Bar” that you can enable to expand the single-layered Tab Bar into two layers. The addition of a new layer is for monitoring which tabs are open and quickly switching between them. This second layer at the top of the screen works a lot like the Safari app on a Mac, showing all of the different tabs that are open, website logos to easily distinguish between web pages, and highlighted tabs to tell which tab is currently active.
