You may already know that Apple has an app called Shazam that recognizes songs, and that you can Shazam songs from the iPhone’s Control Center. But have you ever wondered why your Shazamed songs don’t show up in your Shazam playlist?

Is Shazam not showing up in Control Center on iPhone?

When I discovered that iOS 16 syncs the Shazam app with the built-in Shazam-powered music recognition feature, I thought, “Doesn’t it already do that?” The answer is that it does, but there are some major holes in the setup. The built-in service will recognize songs, but until iOS 16, it couldn’t save those songs directly to a playlist. It’s a small addition that makes everything a lot less confusing to use.

"There is a 'Sync Shazams to Apple Music' option in the Shazam app, which will give you a 'My Shazam Tracks' playlist in Apple Music," Shazam user Wombert said in a Mac Rumors forum thread. "[The] issue up until now has been that songs recognized via the Control Center shortcut would not appear in that list. I'm glad to see that finally being fixed in iOS 16."

Shazam is great. You just play a snippet of a song, and it recognizes it for you and can remember it. Simple. But then Apple bought it, and things got a little weird. First, while Apple built Shazam into iOS, allowing you to use Siri or a button in your iPhone’s Control Center to recognize music, it didn’t remove it from the App Store.
